Single Malt Whisky, Scotland/Islay
With its ten fermentation vats (eight wooden and two stainless steel), three wash stills with a capacity of 20,000 liters and three spirit stills with a capacity of 14,000 liters, Caol Ila is the largest distillery on the island of Islay.
First aged in a refill hogshead, then matured for two years in a cask containing rum from Barbados, this single cask tactfully asserts its island character. As the tasting progresses, it reveals highly original sugar cane and agave flavors.
