Rum, France/La Reunion
Although this Papalin Réunion aged in French oak casks is very different from the Papalin Haïti sherry cask also featured in the New Vibrations Créations catalogue, both reveal the same limitless power of seduction and class. A blend of one grand arôme rum and three traditional rums, this version invites us to explore a palette of flavors and aromas that moves through deeply empyreumatic and wonderfully fruity sequences, all with astounding natural ease.
TASTING NOTES
Nose : Elegant, complex. On the first nose, a magnificent sequence of orange and chocolate fragrances sets the tone for a promising tasting. Allowed to breathe, very ripe mangos, mineral notes (schist) and hydrocarbon vapours add admirably to the aroma palette.
Appearance : Old gold with copper highlights.
Palate : Noble, invigorating. On the attack, the oranges from the nose release their fresh and tangy juices. The more rooty mid-palate (ginger, gentian) is also rich (hot cane sugar). The end of the palate reveals a sophisticated apricot aspect (stone).
Overall : Long, distinguished. The powdery finish (cocoa, red tea) revisits all the fruits from the nose and the palate. Toffee and oak stave flavors feed a very consistent mid-palate. The end of the finish is naturally fibrous and vegetal (cane).
