Transcontinental Rum Line single casks are carefully vetted and chosen for their unique personality and bold character. Coming from the four corners of the world, they illustrate the diversity that can be found in the world of rum and offer a singular moment in time from these rum-producing areas. Exclusively for the South African market, this version has been bottled at full strength with no adulteration, featuring exclusive artwork.
Distilled in a column still from fermented molasses, this single cask spent ten years in the tropical climate of Venezuela in an ex-Bourbon barrel, before crossing the Atlantic Ocean for six additional years of aging in Europe, in ex-Rum casks. A unique expression bottled at cask strength with no adulteration, at 59.5%.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Opulent and rich. The first nose reveals beautiful notes of vanilla, dark chocolate, black pepper, along with hints of leather. It finishes with dark prunes and maple syrup.
Palate: Lively yet balanced. The attack develops the fruity notes of the nose, slowly developing into darker, more complex flavours of roasted coffee beans, sweet spices and caramelised nuts.
Finish: Long and concentrated. Roasted, the start of the finish develops towards coffee and toasted wood, continuing coconut notes and tobacco. The after taste is refreshed with plant infusions.
