In pursuit of perfection, Widow Jane has developed the unique corn varietal, baptized “Baby Jane.” This corn varietal is an open-pollinated cross between two heirloom varieties: Bloody Butcher, which dates back to 1845 in the US, and Wapsie Valley, favored by the Amish and grown since around 1850.
The early growing years were curated by their team, with only the finest kernels selected for eventual growth in the fields. Years later, that corn—proprietary to Widow Jane—was harvested, driven to Red Hook, where it was mashed, fermented, and distilled. It was then gently placed into new, charred American oak barrels and aged for 4-6 years.
Hand-assembled in Brooklyn, blended only a few barrels at a time, it’s a true small-batch bourbon. This special grain delivers a depth and creamy-spiced finish that is a rare treat even for the most discerning bourbon lover.
