Single Malt Whisky, Scotland/Islay
Selected from Douglas Laing, which was founded in Glasgow in 1948 by Fred Douglas Laing and began bottling single malts in the late 1990’s, this bottling shines a light on Islay’s oldest distillery, Bowmore. Established in 1779 by David Simpson, Bowmore has been owned by the Japanese group Suntory since 1994. Approximately 25% of the barley used is still malted on-site using traditional methods. Staying true to the complex and nuanced style for which this single malt is known, this bottling sails naturally through marine and iodine sequences. Following the meanders of a sinuous peat, the flavour and aroma palette casts its anchor in tropical, floral and balsamic lands standing as true oases of freshness.
