Single Malt Whiskey, France
La Fabrique des Bières d’Anjou, also known as La Piautre, is a French brewery-malt-house-distillery nestled on the banks of the Loire. Keen to produce an artisanal and local whiskey, the factory works with three farmers located within a radius of 20 km. In 2013, she joined a malt house and started producing whiskey. First with the help of a mobile distiller and a COYAC still, then, since 2017, with their own Charentais-type still. Resulting from a long fermentation and a double distillation over open fire, La Piautre 2018 is a single malt smoked with Irish peat. Matured first in two separate barrels – a first barrel of 100 litres and another of 225 litres.
