Today, Michter’s operates from three locations in Kentucky. The Shively section of Louisville, the architecturally significant Fort Nelson building in downtown Louisville, and Michter’s farm and operation spread across 205 acres in Springfield, KY. Michter’s Shively Distillery, the primary production facility, is situated within the historic whiskey-rich region of Louisville. Spanning 12.8 acres (5.2 hectares) and encompassing 85,000 square feet (7,900 square meters), this facility stands as a testament to Michter’s commitment to the craft of whiskey production.
One of their most limited production items, Michter’s 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye continues the legacy of America’s first whiskey variety (rye) from America’s first whiskey company (Michter’s, originally known as Shenk’s).
Using fire-charred, New American White Oak Barrel, the 10 Year Rye expression reflects the exceptional results of uncompromising craftsmanship and Kentucky’s unrivalled climate for aging outstanding whiskey.
Often much older than the age statement on the label, only a select few barrels age with the elegance required for inclusion in this highly limited release.
Profile: Deep notes of vanilla and toffee, toasted almonds, and cinnamon with an ample dose of crushed pepper and a hint of orange citrus.
