In the pursuit of even rarer & more intense bourbon, Widow Jane unearths its oldest whiskey yet. Black Opal is an artful blend of rare whiskeys, each aged for a minimum of 20 years.
This extraordinary marriage of bourbons takes on an extended finish in prized Mizunara Oak casks. Old growth trees are harvested, air-seasoned, & crafted into casks that receive a medium toast. Highly porous & low in tannins, this special Japanese oak imparts an intense & distinctive flavour on the bourbon.
A deep aroma of molasses, root beer, & tobacco lays a foundation for notes of incense, smouldering wood, & toasted almond to shine through.
Black Opal is proofed with limestone water from The Legendary Rosendale Mines of NY. This hard-yet-sweet water delivers a lavish mouthfeel & long finish.
Widow Jane Black Opal 2024 is a limited-edition release on strict allocation
