Rum, Australia
The Beenleigh distillery was founded in 1884 and is the oldest active rum distillery in Australia. Located in Queensland, on the northeast coast of the country, it is situated in an area known for its sugarcane plantations. Beenleigh’s history is intertwined with the heritage of Australian rum, notably as a historic supplier to the British Royal Navy. Today, it is one of the few remaining traditional distilleries in the world with limited presence in European markets. Beenleigh produces its rums using molasses and local water.
