Single Malt Whisky, Scotland / Highlands
It was in 1972 that the Benriach distillery began producing a peated single malt for the first time. Her malting areas were closed in 1998. However, since 2013, she has started sporadically malting part of her barley. If it were necessary to define in one word this version which displays a rate of phenols of 35 ppm, it would undoubtedly be “elegant”: from its distillate of an incredible purity of expression first of all, passing by its fruity then very complex until its peat which always remains marked by a deep refinement and this even in the notes of hydrocarbons that it reveals. Magnificent.
