Single Post Still Irish Whiskey, Ireland
Midleton’s Dair Ghaelach series celebrates the native Irish oak trees that craft the casks for its whiskey. Each release is uniquely finished in barrels made from a single tree, imparting virgin-oak spiciness and a distinct character traceable to the forest of origin. This particular bottling utilized oak from Tree #5 in the Bluebell Forest, located within the historic Castle Blunden estate in County Kilkenny. The tree, over 130 years old when felled, contributed to sustainable forestry practices by allowing new saplings to be planted, rejuvenating the bluebell-covered woodland.
