Single Malt Whisky, Scotland / Speyside
Speyburn Single Cask 280 was distilled in 2004 and bottled in 2017 at a strength of 52.5%. This bottle is only 1 of 234 available. Bottled exclusively for La Maison du Whisky, this Speyburn Single Cask was especially selected for release during Whisky Live Paris, September 2017 by our guests. This fine Single Cask is delicate, sparkling gold in appearance. The nose is bursting with hints of waxy lemon peel, sweet vanilla and soft tropical fruits. On the palate there are notes of toffee, light citrus fruits, white chocolate and a just a hint of coconut.
In 1897 John Hopkins discovered a unique spot in the heart of Speyside, ideal for making exceptionally smooth whisky. Building a distillery in the steep, wooded glen by the Granty Burn was challenging. However, with abundant, pure water and the rich natural elements of this lush region of Scotland, it was worth the effort. To this day, Speyburn remains the only distillery to draw its water from this major tributary of the River Spey. Here the Distillery Manager, Bobby Anderson, has perfected his talent through years of experience to ensure that only the finest Speyburn casks are hand selected for exclusive single cask release. Style: Intense, generous.
