Blended Whisky, Japan
Blended whisky, the sixth in the 24 sekki series.
Akkeshi malt occupies over 50%, and the imported New Pot Grain has been aged for more than 3 years on the hill overlooking Akkeshi Bay. The first day of Daikan (the coldest time of winter) has arrived, and it continues to be freezing here in Akkeshi. People often have a strong impression that it snows everywhere in Hokkaido. However, the east Hokkaido area, including Akkeshi, is a region with little snowfall. While the snowy Asahikawa region has 84 hours of sunshine, the Kushiro region has twice as many, at 168 hours (according to JMA January 2021 data). On the other hand, it is not uncommon for the outside temperature to drop to 20 degrees below zero. On such days, a natural phenomenon unique to the east of Hokkaido called “Kearashi (frost smoke)” occurs. Kearashi is a natural phenomenon in which misty vapors form from the surface of the sea. Kearashi does not occur all the time but occurs only when certain weather conditions are met, such as clear skies, radiative cooling to around 15 degrees below zero, and wind speeds of 3 to 5 m/s. The design of Akkeshi Blended Whisky Daikan was inspired by the Kearashi rising in Akkeshi Bay, so we hope you can feel the dignified air unique to winter. Also, our staff is working hard outdoors, enduring the bitter cold daily to bring you whisky that warms the body of everyone who is waiting for spring to arrive. We hope to have your warm support.
