Blended Whisky, Japan
This Akkeshi blended whisky was made with grain whisky and peated Akkeshi malt aged in Mizunara oak casks from the Hokkaido forest. It is the eight of the 24 Solar term series’ The series is inspired by the ancient Asian calendar where a year is divided into 24 solar seasons.
Taisho or “Greater Heat”, from late July to early August, is the period when summer is at its hottest During this period, the paulownias (Japanese imperial tree) produce their first seeds the earth becomes moist, the air becomes humid and heavy rains sometimes begin to fall In many areas, summer events, festivals and fireworks are held, and visitors participate in them wearing their Yukata The Taisho label, in its indigo blue, recalls the traditional colors of this summer kimono.
At Akkeshi lions dance to the musical accompaniment of taiko drums and flutes Prayers are offered to the gods of nature in hopes of a bountiful catch of fish for the year. Please enjoy the invigorating harmony of Akkeshi malt and grain, nurtured by the sea breeze coming from Akkeshi Bay.
