The Isle of Arran distillery got into cask finishes very early on and, in addition to a permanent range that needs no introduction, Arran also offers limited editions, under the “Rare” range. batch”.
The barrels for this bottling come from Christian Drouin, an iconic producer of Calvados for generations in the village of Pont L’Évêque in Normandy. This single malt from Arran has thus aged wonderfully for 17 years in these precious French oak barrels (requirement of the Calvados appellation) and has thus been enriched with sweet and gourmet aromas paying a very nice tribute to the Drouin house.
TASTING NOTES
Nose : Complex and pleasant. Notes of dried apple, sweet pastries, nutmeg and cocoa powder.
Palate : Soft and silky. Apple, dark chocolate and heather honey take pride of place.
Overall : Long and straight. The orchard fruit flavors including apple definitely stand out.
