Single Malt Whisky, Japan / Honshu – Saitama

Aged in American new oak (Quercus Alba), it’s no surprise that, in a very spirited finish, this Chichibu has taken on the flavours unique to American whiskey. This serves to further highlight the quality of a maturation that leaves nothing to chance. Better still, the mineral and pure character of this single malt distilled by Ichiro Akuto has lost none of its intensity. Balsamic (heather, cedar, Oregan pine), empyreumatic (varnish) and medicinal notes (tiger balm) flesh out a palette of flavours and aromas that finds its originality in a proudly assumed classicism.
