Single Malt Whisky, Scotland/Speyside
Distilled in 1998, the year the distillery reopened, this Benromach takes us back to a present just as rich in emotions and a harbinger of a radiant future. Very refined, the aromatic and taste palette which is also wonderfully exotic and heady has retained a youthful expression which gives it enormous freshness and vitality.
Nose : Full, elegant. Exotic (banana, pineapple), candied (pear, apple), mentholated, creamy (flan) and lemony, the aromatic palette is remarkably full. When aerated, white flowers (lily, lilac, lily of the valley) and green olives take over the olfactory space while new fruits appear (mirabelle plum, greengage plum).
Appearance : Deep golden yellow.
Palate : Dense, haughty. Honeyed (acacia, lime blossom), the taste palette is in perfect continuity with the nose. Then, finely chocolatey, it gradually becomes tenderly spicy (cinnamon, candied ginger), herbaceous (blond tobacco) and infused (chamomile).
Finish : Long, racy. Evoking a field of barley in spring, the tasting now takes on more bucolic tones (dandelion, daisy). Remarkably imposing, it continues with increasingly camphorated and herbaceous flavours (chlorophyll).
