Single Malt Whisky, Scotland / Speyside
During the very long period of closure (1900-1965) experienced by the Benriach distillery, only its malting areas remained in operation to supply the neighbouring distillery, Longmorn. Closed in 1998, these were reopened in 2013 and are nowadays used occasionally: this Benriach distilled in 1994 is in a way the reflection of a bygone era. Its aromatic and gustatory palette oscillates from start to finish between a very “Speyside” fruity, chocolate and honeyed delicacy and an earthy, smoky, medicinal and salty character that unmistakably brings to mind Laphroaig.
