Although the Uitvlugt distillery closed in 1999, its Savalle column still continues to be used at Demerara Distillers Limited, the only distillery in Guyana still in operation, founded in the same year. This version produced in this very still makes an art form out of originality. In its flavour and aroma palette, it frequently strays from its usual path and on the finish even evokes a Scottish single malt.
