Rum, South Africa
FAQ Plastic is a new project led by Luca Gargano. Faithful to the vision it conveys in particular with Triple A wines, this Mhoba 2017 is a rum produced from pure cane juice without the addition of any input during the various stages of production: no pesticides, no enzymes, no coloring. or sweetener. In short: “”subtraction not addition””. Mhoba rums are produced from the Nkomazi variety of sugarcane cultivated within the concomitant farm at the distillery. The sugar cane is cut by hand and pressed by an in-house developed mill. The cane juice is fermented in part by a local baker’s yeast as well as wild yeasts. The distillation is carried out using an iron still designed by Robert Greaves. The particularity of this still is to promote a maximum of reflux in order to develop heavy and particularly aromatic rums. Mhoba 2017 FAQ Plastic aged 4 years in red wine barrels at the distillery in South Africa. Bottled, without reduction, at 64.3%, it has a congener rate of 590.9 gr / HLAP including 344.6 gr / HLAP of esters.
