Rum, Jamaica
Named after the distillery’s founding year, Hampden 1753 is crafted using the same traditional methods: long fermentations, pot still distillation characteristic of the Jamaican style, and 100% tropical aging. Aged for 3 years in bourbon barrels and bottled at 46% ABV, Hampden 1753 reveals the distillery’s characteristic high-ester profile in an approachable and versatile expression, making it the perfect introduction to the inimitable style of the legendary Jamaican distillery.
Nose: Fresh, creamy. Exotic (pineapple), fermented, slightly petrol-like, medicinal (arnica) and milky (coconut), the aromatic palette is extremely complex. Upon aeration, aromas of agave flower and artichoke base give it a lot of class.
Appearance: Deep golden yellow.
Palate: Round, delicious. Divinely vanilla, herbaceous (sugar cane, agave) and fibrous (gentian root), the taste palette evolves towards more minty and exotic registers (candied banana). Then, nutty flavors and other, more mineral flavors (chalk) deeply permeate the taste buds.
Finish: Long, full-bodied. Floral (pansy, geranium), the tasting continues with herbaceous and saline flavors (clover, samphire). Refreshed by citrus zest (lemon, grapefruit), it becomes increasingly spicy (ginger, cinnamon) and fruity (pear, apple) over time.
