Aged in French Oak casks for at least six years to create Chamarel’s famous XO, which consists of approximately 70% column still and 30% pot still, this rum was taken one step further with an additional two years of ageing in a first-fill Moscatel cask.

Tasting Notes
Profile: Spicy and fruit forward.
Colour: Dark red mahogany.
Nose: Dusty, spicy [clove]. immediate hits of plum and fresh ripe prunes. There is a lovely dustiness here, and enter the classic Chamarel Christmas spice notes, in this case clove. Lots of French oak and Moscatel wine notes, figs, jasmine, banana chips, plantain, a Woolworths seed bar, red wine vinegar and pickle.
Palate: The spice comes even more to the forefront on the palate than on the nose, followed by sweetness, dare we say cranberry jelly. A touch of jasmine and perhaps some rosemary.
Finish: Very long and continues on forever, quite warming, spices for days on end.
