Rum, Jamaica
Hampden DOK 2017 is the very first bottling of the DOK “mark” in tropical aging. DOK is a legendary mark that dates back to when Dermot Owen Kelly-Lawson was owner and manager of the distillery in the late 1890s.
Of Hampden’s 8 marks, DOK is the most intense, with ester content extremely high: 1500-1600 gr/hLAP after distillation, the legally authorized maximum. Originally, this mark was created for one purpose: to blend it with lower ester content liquids. Tasting it pure is a unique and fascinating experience. Through tasting, it is possible to understand how a rum can reveal itself in its most complex expression.
After 5 years of aging in the Hampden cellar in Trelawny, the total angel share has exceeded 34%.
