Rum, Jamaica
With the Trelawny Endemic Bird Series, the Hampden distillery pays tribute to the rich wildlife of 67 different bird species living in the heart of Cockpit Valley, notably including the golden swallow, crested quail-dove, black-billed amazon and Jamaican blackbird. Originally selected as a bottling for Whisky Live Paris, which was due to take place in September, this OWH version, with an ester content of 40-80 grams per hectoliter of pure alcohol, proudly represents the lightest style of rum produced by this iconic distillery. And yet, particularly warm and generous, it shows us Hampden in an intensely medicinal, deeply mineral and wonderfully syrupy (cane sugar) light.
