Pure Cane Juice Rum, South Africa
Mhoba rum comes from a traditional distillery in South Africa, where a local variety of sugar cane called nkomazi is harvested by hand. Rich in esters, these rums are the result of long fermentations lasting up to three weeks.
Aged in Bourbon casks, this Single Cask WRD-1 reveals a remarkable balance between youth and maturity. Both rich and complex, its aromatic palette is distinguished by intense liveliness and refined expression.
Nose : Rich, heady. Initially, scents of tiger balm and flambéed banana testify to the particularly lively character of the aromatic palette. With aeration, it calms down, becoming more honeyed (acacia), lemony and vanilla-like.
Appearance : Golden Yellow.
Palate : Firm and dynamic. Finely peppery and above all very juicy (pear, apple), the range of flavours is completely different from the nose. Freshly herbaceous (sugar cane) and floral (geranium, hibiscus), over time it becomes increasingly gourmand (milk tart, lime tart) and infused (verbena, camomile).
Overall : Long and tangy, the tasting becomes even more delicious. Flavours of aniseed, star anise and clove then leave their mark on the deliciously lemony, vanilla-flavoured aftertaste.
