Pure Cane Juice Rum, South Africa
Mhoba rum comes from a traditional distillery in South Africa, where a local variety of sugar cane called nkomazi is harvested by hand. Rich in esters, these rums are the result of long fermentations lasting up to three weeks.
Produced from a single cask, the Single Cask #WRD-6, aged in bourbon casks, stands out for its remarkable youth and vitality.
Its palette of aromas and flavours is both intense and expressive, evoking the wisdom of a sweet wine. On the palate, this initially gentle, refined approach evolves into more infused, root-like tones, with a lovely bitterness.
Nose : Rich, concentrated. Scents of vanilla bean, freshly crushed sugar cane, bergamot, white vermouth, almond milk, camphor, peppermint, lime… These are just some of the aromas revealed by a palette bursting with dynamism.
Appearance : Golden yellow.
Palate : Straightforward yet smooth, it reveals flavours of custard, lime and verbena infusion. The range of flavours is in turn generous, evolving towards more resinous notes (pine) and root notes (ginger).
Overall : Long and serene. Supported by light tannins, the tasting continues with notes of juicy Williams pear. Gradually, liquorice and ginger take over.
