Single Grain Whisky, Japan/Honshu – Miyagi
A single cask of Nikka Coffey Grain (#199816) was distilled in 1997 and bottled in 2011. This whisky is a grain whisky primarily made from corn and distilled using a Coffey still, a continuous column still named after its inventor, Aeneas Coffey, an Irish customs officer who refined Robert Stein’s 1826 invention in 1830. Notably, this expression was distilled before the Coffey stills were relocated from Nishinomiya to the Miyagikyo distillery in 1999
