Nikka operates two traditional Coffey stills—named after their inventor, Aeneas Coffey—at the Miyagikyo Distillery for the production of its grain whiskies. Imported from Scotland in 1963, these historic stills produce a spirit with greater depth and character than modern column stills, imparting the rich, distinctive profile that defines Nikka’s style.
