Blended Whisky, France
Since 2020, Version Française, a range dedicated to exceptional French spirits, has been meeting producers across the country and showcasing their know-how.
In 2023, Version Française is inaugurating a new cycle dedicated to the various stages of whiskey production. Called Cerealis, the first episode of this cycle highlights the emblematic cereals of whiskey production around the world, offering four versions made from corn, rye, barley and wheat.
Distilled between 2013 and 2019 in an Armagnac still, the four small batches revisit the categories of bourbon, rye, single malt and grain whiskey. Made from a blend of 51% rye and 49% malted barley and fermentation for more than 10 days, this Secale expression is in the vein of the great pre-Prohibition American whiskeys. But here, instead of classic American oak barrels, new Jura oak barrels were used for its aging.
