Single Malt Whisky, Scotland / Speyside
The discreet Glenlossie distillery was founded in 1876 and is equipped with three 15,800-litre wash stills and three 13,500-litre spirit stills. Produced through long distillations lasting from 65 to 106 hours, its new make spirit is renowned for its oily, herbal character. Seeped in oxidative, rancio and toasted flavours from maturation in a first-fill oloroso sherry cask, this stunning version is one of the finest chapters in the Plume collection.
TASTING NOTES
Nose : Refined, smooth. Beautiful notes of apricot, nutmeg and mango form a voluptuous first nose. Allowed to breathe, aromas of ripe fruits (Mirabelle plum, greengage plum) and dried flowers elegantly enshroud the aroma palette. Rancio and roasted (mocha coffee) notes appear next.
Appearance : Copper with greenish reflections.
Palate : Firm, lively. The attack adds citrus fruit (orange, mandarin), salted butter caramel and milk chocolate. The mid-palate develops more luscious (lucerne), malty (barley grain) and heavily spiced (clove, curry, cinnamon) registers.
Overall : Long, full of energy. The heady start of the finish (lily, iris) recreates the character of a still hot-headed and remarkably clear spirit. The aftertaste ends in flavours of cocoa powder, wood and infused plants (thyme, oregano).
