Blended Whisky, Japan
Mars The YA (Yakushima Aging) is a small batch whisky aged on the tropical island of Yakushima, with its many rivers, forests and mountains. As with version #1, this version #2 is a Japanese blended malt whisky made only with single malts from the Mars Shinshu distillery and the Mars Tsunuki distillery. For the first time, with this second edition, Mars offers a peaty version of The YA. A taste of sun-ripened fruits, combined with a sea breeze and smoky notes transport us to the mystical forests of Yakushima filled with mist.
Yakushima Island has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993. The climate is warm and tropical with a high percentage of humidity. This extreme climate also gives Mars a different aging environment than Shinshu and Tsunuki with a higher share of angels.
