Single Malt Whisky, Wales / Southern Wales
Produced through a single distillation in a unique hybrid still developed by Dr. David Faraday and purchased by Penderyn in 2000, this version reproduces a hundredfold the generous, extrovert and delicious temperament that characterizes the single malt produced by Wales’ oldest distillery. Beyond its fruity and spicy borders, it doesn’t hesitate for a moment to venture into the syrupy world of rums or the more floral world of oriental pastries.
TASTING NOTES
Nose : Full-bodied, fresh. With rare generosity, the first nose reveals elegant notes of white fruit (pear, William’s pear), lily of the valley, vanilla and lemon. Allowed to breathe, subtle herbal (cut hay) and peppery aromas appear alongside malty and heady (benzoin, white mint) notes.
Appearance : Gold lively.
Palate : Clean, invigorating. A stunning reflection of the nose, the attack adds a very charming exotic dimension (coconut, pineapple, lychee). Aromatic plants (sorrel, lemon balm) and spices (cinnamon, clove, coriander) then interweave delicately with vanilla and milky (rice pudding) flavours. Mineral salts are gradually laid down.
Overall : Long, well-balanced. The rooty start of the finish (ginger, gentian) shows menthol and aquatic (reed, water lily) notes. Cane sugar and barley sugar notes softly envelop the taste buds as oriental flavors appear (Turkish delight, rose).
