Other Whisky, France
Since 2020, Version Française, a range dedicated to exceptional French spirits, has been meeting producers across the country and showcasing their expertise.
In 2023, Version Française inaugurated a new cycle dedicated to the various stages of whisky production. Called Cerealis, the first episode of this cycle highlights the emblematic cereals of whisky production around the world, with four versions made from corn, rye, barley and wheat. Distilled between 2013 and 2019 in an Armagnac still, the four small batches revisit the categories of bourbon, rye, single malt and grain whisky. Zea Mays (named after the scientific term for maize) is produced with a combination of 51% maize and 49% malted barley. Matured in charred American new oak casks, this version explores multiple universes, beginning with the rich delights of American whiskey before moving onto an uncompromisingly herbaceous and exotic character. The palette of flavours and aromas expresses noble influences with lots of roundness.
