The Sanchez distillery is a small family business established for over 150 years in Candelaria Yegolé, a small village in the state of Tahona. Maestro mezcaleros Sanchez have passed from father to son for four generations. Espadin agave is the most used in the production of mezcal in Oaxaca. It is considered the ancestor of Sisal and blue agave, used for the production of tequila. Espadin agave is a cultivated and not wild species, which is why it is the most used for mezcal.
