Rhum Agricole, France/Martinique

The Fonds-Préville distillery has its own nursery where it grows its own plants. It grows three varieties of sugar cane (reed, blue and red) on its 300-hectare estate. Generously fruity and tenderly vegetal, this version, distilled in the traditional way in a copper Creole column, bears a striking resemblance to the 8-year-old version distilled in 2016 from the same catalogue. The notable difference, however, is the presence of empyreumatic sequences that add a touch of mystery to its aromatic palette and taste.
