The last bottling of the Cask Variations series, American Oak Ex-Tawny Single Cask # TD0199, aged for 12 years in a single 300 litre American oak barrel, previously filled with fortified Australian port wine (tawny), and bottled at 47.5% vol. This different American oak did not impart the same notes as the classic version of American Oak. Indeed, this American oak barrel has seen tawny aging and not bourbon. The result is a whiskey that exhibits both the rich character of port as well as the wood and vanilla of American oak. It’s a very special profile that sits somewhere between the classic French oak and American oak expressions of Sullivans Cove
