Rum, Saint-lucia
After the Chairman’s Reserve 13 year old released in our Antipodes Catalogue comes this remarkable 11 year old also distilled in the famous John Dore double-retort pot stills installed at the Saint Lucia distillery. The incredibly generous aroma palette immediately transports us to a universe of lyricism and luxury, while the just-as-charismatic flavour palette blooms into deliciously honeyed richness.
TASTING NOTES
Nose : Full-bodied, distinguished. The resplendently mature nose reveals aromas of ginger, salted butter caramel, grilled walnut and candied citrus fruit (lemon, grapefruit). Allowed to breathe, heady florals (mimosa) and forest floor scents (dried leaves) rise from the glass.
Appearance :Old Gold with copper highlights.
Palate : Lively, ethereal. With incredible balsamic freshness (thuja), the attack returns to citrus. The vanilla mid-palate develops honeyed (lavender) and fruity (apple, pear) registers.
Overall : Long, radiant. A hint of camphor, clove and gentian root bring wonderful depth initially. The rich after-taste (rum baba) becomes very sunny (date, dried fig) and infused (gentian).
