Single Malt Whisky, Scotland / Highlands-mull
The history of the Tobermory distillery, renamed Ledaig between 1972 and 1975, is interspersed with periods of closures and reopenings. Since 1993, it has been producing two single malts, one unpeated, Tobermory, the other peated, Ledaig (between 30 and 40 ppm of phenols). Alternately very peaty, rancid, heady, exotic, chocolatey, saline, empyreumatic and spicy, this version brilliantly synthesizes the singular and captivating style that characterizes the best Ledaig.
